The German amusement park Heide Park is always full of joy, fun and children's laughter. It is located 80 kilometres from Hamburg and very close to the town of Soltau. Heide Park has been delighting children and adults alike for over 35 years, having first opened its doors to visitors in 1978.
If you want to give your children a day full of fun and joy, then welcome to this wonderful place! Heide Park is one of the largest amusement parks in Germany, so it's always full of local families and tourists with children.
There is a lot to see and do at the amusement centre. There are 45 different types and levels of attractions to keep you entertained. The latest open-air rides are the classic roller coaster with four flips and a big loop and the Scream, which is a platform with fixed seats. It first lifts people over 100 metres and then suddenly collapses downwards. The platform collapses at speeds of up to 100km/h!
Bird Park Walsrode, 29 km away, is a must-see for the whole family.
Anyone who has been on this ride will talk about it with a slight shudder in their voice. For younger visitors, the park owners have created a similar attraction that is only 12.6 metres high. Unlike its big brother, it is not as scary and is suitable for children from the age of 4.
The rides that many parents have been used to since childhood are also available in Hyde Park. If you and your child aren't the extreme type, there's still plenty to do and see in the centre.
Coming with a young child? At Heide Park, half of the area has been designed with the little ones in mind. Children who have just learned to walk can spend all day jumping, running, climbing and bouncing on the many slides and merry-go-rounds. What other family attractions are there? There's the rafts on the lake, the giant swings in the shape of pirate schooners and the Heide Express train, which takes you on a mini-excursion around the park, allowing you to choose the rides that suit you best.
As well as the usual playgrounds, Hyde Park also has an area with water rides and slides, and a local car showroom where your young traveller can feel like a real Schumacher.
There are also plenty of souvenir stalls in the area. If you get hungry, one of the restaurants or cafes will provide you with delicious local food. Show lovers won't be bored in Hyde Park. There are regular colourful and spectacular puppet shows and performances.
If all day is not enough for you and your child, why not spend a few days here? Spend a night or two in the comfort and safety of one of the cosy campsites or a chic room at the local four-star Port Royal Hotel.
Not far from the park (40km) you'll find Walsrode Bird Park, another attraction for children and adults. If you have any energy left, be sure to visit.
