Boston History Camp

Boston History Camp

United States, Boston

Overview

Welcome to a two-week journey back in time with the Boston History Camp! This immersive program is perfect for high school students who are eager to dive deep into the rich tapestry of Boston's past. With the city as their classroom, campers embark on daily walking tours, exploring the Freedom Trail, Back Bay, North End, and beyond. Each step is a step back in time, a chance to walk in the shoes of the city's historical figures. The camp's approach to history is far from dry textbook reading. Instead, campers are encouraged to engage in guided discussions, read compelling historical accounts like Stephen Puleo's book "A City So Grand" — and even meet the author himself! In addition, they'll embark on their own supervised research projects, crafting historically accurate stories to share via video, podcast, essay, or even their own walking tour. This isn't your typical history lesson. The camp employs humor and theatrical storytelling to fire up campers' imaginations and make history come alive. This unique approach is no surprise, considering the camp's origins with the top-ranked historical tour company in Cambridge. A day at the camp starts with a story-sharing session, followed by a tour of a specific location. After lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to guided discussions, research, and writing. The day concludes at the Commonwealth School, where campers are dropped off and picked up. With a limit of 15 campers per program, spaces fill up quickly. So if your child is a rising high school sophomore or senior with a passion for history, don't delay — step back in time and make this summer a historic one with the Boston History Camp!
