Camp Chief Little Turtle

Camp Chief Little Turtle

United States, Pleasant Lake

Overview

At the heart of Indiana's untamed wilderness, unfurls the grand spectacle of Camp Chief Little Turtle. Nestled within the verdant expanse of a 1200-acre untouched woodland, the camp emerges as an unparalleled embrace to curiosity and adventure. The methodically thought-out design of Camp Chief Little Turtle faces no competition in the realm of summer camps. With staff who are adept at navigating the often bewildering world of scouting, camping, and outdoor living, every camper is given the golden chance to seize their summer with both hands. And boy, do they have options! Picture the Aquatics program. All guided on the camp's crown jewel, the Pit Lake. A former rock quarry, it's now one of Indiana's cleanest lakes, making it the perfect setting for learning aquatic merit badges and awards.

Then there's Carburetor Canyon, an adrenaline-infused landscape where All Terrain Vehicles, yes, ATVs, traipse unencumbered. Thanks to an American Safety Institute Instructor, safety is never compromised as the young explorers charter their own paths. Of course, we cannot disregard the heart-thumping Climbing Program. With a 32-foot climbing and rappelling tower, it's just the canvas for those who like their victories against gravity. The ecology-conscious will find their home at Thom's Lodge, an ecological haven that teems with wildlife: the graceful White Tail Deer, elusive Turkey, or even the not-so-elusive Northern Indiana Large Mouth Mosquito! The camp also offers Project C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) that’s tailored to foster crucial skills in teamwork, communication, leadership, and decision-making, all under the watchful eye of National Camp School Trained Directors. Pioneering, camping, and orienteering further beckon the adventurous spirits. Whether it's the more technologically inclined who find solace in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Music (STEAM) center, or those who prepare for the rank of Eagle Scout during the Soaring Eagles sessions, Camp Chief Little Turtle extends a welcoming gauntlet to all. Forget imagining summer, seize it.
