Accommodation
As a day-camp format, Fitness by the Sea does not offer overnight lodging; campers attend daily sessions and return home each evening. The beachfront venue includes shaded rest zones and designated meeting areas where campers can take breaks, change gear, and store personal items during the day.
Meals
Snack breaks and hydration are provided throughout the day, including access to drinking-water stations and shaded areas. Parents are encouraged to send campers with a packed lunch and any personal snacks; camp staff monitor refill of coolers and remind campers to stay energized under the sun.
Medicine
Certified counselors and staff keep a sharp focus on camper wellness: all staff are CPR certified and trained in beach and ocean safety. Any injuries or health concerns are managed on site, and parents must notify the camp ahead of time of medical conditions or medications. Camp staff monitor hydration, sunscreen application, and ocean-safety protocols to help prevent issues before they arise.
Security
Safety measures are built into every aspect of the camp: a 6:1 camper-to-counselor ratio, direct supervision during ocean and shoreline activities, and daily drills on boundaries and sun-safety. Counselors are placed in the water by depth zones, while certified lifeguards monitor from the beach; all protocols are developed in consultation with Santa Monica/LA County lifeguards. Camp rules—such as reapplying sunscreen, drinking water, and staying within camp boundaries—are reviewed with campers every day.
Camp Traditions
Fitness by the Sea fosters a lively camp culture filled with theme days, team challenges, and beach-based games that build camaraderie and excitement. Each Friday wraps up with a celebratory activity—often a group photo, fun pizza party or beach-fest highlight—that honors the week’s achievements. Campers leave with memories of sun, sea, and shared adventure, and many return year after year, greeting familiar friends and staff with high-fives and smiles.
