Overview

Let's set the scene. A summer camp where your child's imagination takes flight, not with the wings of a bird but with the power of a pencil. Welcome to LMU Pre-College Programs: Exploring Animation. This camp pulls back the curtain on the captivating world of animation, letting the magic of the craft spill out in an engaging, hands-on experience. The journey begins with a touch of nostalgia, as campers delve into the age-old art of traditional animation. They learn to master frame-by-frame storytelling, orchestrating visuals that dance off the page. This week of rediscovering classic techniques is a nod to the past, a tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundation for the animation we love today. But don't be fooled.

This camp isn't stuck in the past. Week two catapults participants into the future, embracing the advancements of 2D digital animation. They'll encounter cutting-edge software like Toon Boom Harmony, and the line between tech and creativity will blur as they design characters and compose scenes. This second week is a deep dive into modern animation, arming your child with the skills to create professional-grade 2D digital animations. But be warned. This isn't your run-of-the-mill summer camp. It's an opportunity for your kids to immerse themselves in a world of creativity, to unravel the mysteries of a craft that brings joy to millions.
