The TANOSHII Fun Camp is a week-long youth summer program designed for elementary school children in California. Its mission is to teach kids about Japanese American culture and heritage through exciting, hands-on activities. Campers enjoy unique opportunities to learn from community speakers, cultural demonstrations, and interactive games. Past activities have included taiko drumming, kendo martial arts, origami, obon dancing, Japanese language, and even Japanese cooking. Each day is filled with fun explorations that allow children to connect with their roots and discover new skills. High school juniors, seniors, and college students serve as enthusiastic camp counselors, guided carefully by adult supervisors. This camp fosters friendship, teamwork, and pride in cultural traditions in a safe and supportive environment. By the end of the week, campers leave with lasting memories, new knowledge, and a stronger connection to their heritage.
