YMCA Camp Piomingo

YMCA Camp Piomingo

United States, Brandenburg

Overview

YMCA Camp Piomingo, accredited by the American Camp Association, is a picturesque haven not far from Louisville, Kentucky. Its locale is the majestic Otter Creek Park, a sprawling 3600-acre wilderness that serves as a natural playground for children and teens, offering a symphony of adventures awaiting each eager camper. This coed resident camp boasts a low staff-to-camper ratio (1:4), ensuring that every child receives ample attention and guidance. The staff hold First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding certifications, providing an environment that is as safe as it is fun. Camp Piomingo offers a diverse array of programs to accommodate varied ages and interests. From traditional programs, adventure programs, to equestrian programs, there's something for everyone. The traditional Pioneer program offers a one-week session for campers aged 7-13, while the Explorer program, aimed at campers aged 10-13, spans two weeks. During these sessions, campers can choose from a selection of clinics such as swimming, pottery, drama, rock climbing, canoeing, horseback riding, and archery among others. The adventure program offers thrilling activities such as backpacking, high ropes courses, mountain biking, and caving, while the equestrian program gives campers the opportunity to learn how to care for their own horse. For budding adventurers aged 6-8, the Frontiers program is a wonderful introduction to camp life. It's a two-night/three-day stay that lets youngsters experience camp without the potential homesickness of a whole week away. Here, they'll get their first taste of the fun activities that make Camp Piomingo an unforgettable experience. Imbued with the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, Camp Piomingo is more than just a camp. It's a place where children can grow, learn, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
